
The seventh-grade girls had a great time at the School of Mines' Women's of Science event.

The competition is fierce! Thursday's book battle was between Please Don't Eat Me by Liz Climo read by Ridge and Carter (4th grade) and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems read by Riley and Aria (4th grade). The winner of the battle was the book Please Don't Eat Me! Nice job to all who read on Thursday!!










Day 5 of the Book Battle was a big hit! Avery and Zylah (5th grade) read Almost Everybody Farts by Marty Kelley and Grace and Nirvana (5th grade) read 17 Things I'm Not Allowed To Do Anymore by Jenny Offill & Nancy Carpenter. The students loved both books but Everybody Farts won the battle! Nice job to everyone who read!!

To wrap up their unit on the Cold War, the U.S. history class went to the Minuteman Missile Historical Site on March 6th. They saw many artifacts, were able to walk around Delta-01, received a virtual tour of the Delta-01 Launch Control Center from Ranger Jim who was a squadrons operation officer until 1984, and saw the training missile at Delta-09.


March Madness Book Battle Day 3 is in the books! The battle was between Off-Limits authored by Helen Yoon read by Shaelyn & Annie (5th grade) and The Pigeon Will Ride the Roller Coaster! authored by Mo Willems read by Celton & Jacob (4th grade). The Book Battle winner was Off-Limits by Helen Yoon!

NU Elementary Book Battle began March 4th. The battle was between the books I Say Ooh You Say Aah written by John Kane, read by Ryder Martinmaas and Theo Ludeman (4th grade) and Interrupting Chicken written by David Ezra Stein, read by Marcella Eddy and Nevaeh Kerchenko (5th grade).
The book with most votes was I Say Ooh You Say Aah authored by John Kane!






Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday! Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 & Thing 2 made an appearance to read to each class. The students always enjoy celebrating the gift of reading!

New Underwood seniors visited the capitol today where they were introduced on the House floor by Representative Liz May and on the Senate floor by Senator Erin Tobin. The seniors had a great time, and met many influential leaders of South Dakota!
