The book battles are heating up, and our readers showed up to promote fun in reading! Our 5th round was between The Duckling Gets A Cookie authored by Mo Willems and read by Oakley and Samirah and Moostache authored by Margie Palatini and read by Cami and Carissa. The winner of the battle, it was close, was Moostache authored by Margie Palatini! Nice job reading today ladies!!

Round 4 of our March Madness Tournament of Books was between If You Give a Moose a Muffin authored by Laura Numeroff and read by Isaiah and Robert and The Blue Pickup authored by Natasha Tripplett and read by Liam and Sean. The battle was a huge hit and only one book can move on in the bracket, and it's If You Give a Moose a Muffin! Nice job reading today gentlemen!! See you next week for round 5!
In honor of our 100th day of being in school, Wednesday, March 4th, three old men helped to celebrate the occasion!
Wednesday, March 4th was our 100th day of school!! In celebration of our 100th day, second grade students participated in fun activities to celebrate the occasion.
The results are in for the winning countries, from the third through fifth grade winter Olympics. The students were able to receive the winning medals from all the activities and presentations. Enjoy!

The book battles have been intense! Wednesday's battle was between Some Smug Slug authored by Pamela Duncan Edwards and read by Ella and Big Smelly Bear authored by Britta Teckentrup and read by Serena and Tori. Big Smelly Bear won the battle! Congratulations to all the readers!

Third through fifth grade students were recently participating in their own winter Olympics. Mrs. Ludden, Ms. Pickett, and Mr. Soelzer were able to set up sporting activities, games in the classrooms, and learning that involved studying the countries involved in the winter sporting events. The students tracked the medals won for these countries, and were even able to win their own medals, at the end.

Whew! We about didn't survive this round of book battles! The battle was between My New Friend Is So Fun, read by Paisley and Izzy and My Friend Is Sad read by Raines and Hudson, both authored by Mo Willems . The winner of the battle was My New Friend Is So Fun! We are looking forward to tomorrow's battle! Thank you Paisley, Izzy, Raines and Hudson for reading. It takes a lot of courage to read in front of your peers!

The elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday, and the kick off of the March Battle of the Books Tournament with a few special guests! Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 came to visit to encourage our students to read! Thanks Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2!
March Madness Tournament of Books began March 2nd, and it was a battle!! Rio and Chase read Don't Trust Cats authored by Dev Petty and battled Kenyon and Greyson who read Maxine Gets a Job authored by Alexandra Garyn & Bryan Reisberg. By 8 votes, Maxine Gets a Job won the battle. Tomorrow's read will be My New Friend Is Sad and My New Friend is So Fun both authored by Mel Willems.
