Mrs. Selchert’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Nelson’s first grade class enjoyed their end-of-the-year field trip on Wednesday, May 20. Both classes visited Bear Country USA, had a picnic lunch, and explored Reptile Gardens. What a beautiful day to be on an adventure and make lasting memories together!
A recognition ceremony was held Tuesday evening, May 19, to honor the 8th grade class as they complete their journey through middle school and prepare to become freshmen next year in high school. Congratulations to the 8th grade class!
Mr. Soelzer’s fifth grade students and Ms. Pickett’s fourth grade students traveled to Crazy Horse Memorial on Tuesday, May 19, for a field trip. It was a beautiful day to explore the monument, learn more about its history and significance, and spend time together outside the classroom. The students enjoyed a day filled with learning, fun, and unforgettable views. Enjoy some pictures from their trip!

On Thursday, May 14, Mrs. Nelson’s first grade students hosted a County Fair at the end of the school day for fellow students, staff, and parents to attend. The County Fair served as the final celebration after the class finished reading the book 'Charlotte's Web'.
Students worked hard creating different projects and fair items inspired by the story. During the event, the first graders proudly shared their creations and explained their projects to visitors. The students did an outstanding job displaying their creativity, hard work, and enthusiasm throughout the fair.

More Spring Clean Up - Tiger Pride Day! pictures.
This past Wednesday, May 6, New Underwood students from kindergarten through twelfth grade participated in Spring Clean Up – Tiger Pride Day, sponsored by student council. Students spent the morning helping clean both the school and the community. Projects ranged from picking up trash around the school and throughout town to painting the senior rock, staining benches, repainting the playground murals, and cleaning under the bleachers.
The morning was filled with students and staff working side-by-side, supporting one another for a common purpose — taking pride in our school and our community. Their hard work, teamwork, and positive attitudes were on full display throughout the day. Tiger Pride was certainly evident in all that was accomplished! Excellent job, Tigers!!

'Charlotte's Web' by E.B. White has come to life in Mrs. Nelson’s first grade classroom! Students recently finished reading the beloved story and celebrated by creating incredible paper mache characters from the book, including Charlotte the spider and Wilbur the pig.
The creativity, hard work, and attention to detail shown by these first-grade students is truly amazing. Each character is unique and highlighted the students’ imagination and artistic talents.
Way to go, first grade! Your projects are outstanding, and you should all be super proud of your hard work!

Our very own New Underwood Elementary student, Harbour, is Miss South Dakota USA Ambassador Princess. Harbour will be heading to Florida in July to compete at the national level. Good luck, Miss Harbour!
